Brunch @ Drury Lane

November 29, 2013 in European (cafe) by thywhaleliciousfay

And having taken leave to head off to Phuket, I thought I shall better use my leave by heading off for brunch with my girlfriend in the morning. Although I have to say we got carried away and I nearly missed my afternoon flight. Ha!

We arrived on a weekday late morning to a pretty quiet cafe. I guess the cafe did not look or feel as packed because the lunch crowd was sitting at the upper storey. My girlfriend and I managed to snag the table right beside the entrance where chairs were in the form of crates. Pretty neat!

And from the menu, we ordered:-

1) Eggs benedict, $12 (above) – Honey cured bacon, poached eggs, hollandaise and toast.

2) Salmon baked eggs, $12 (above) – Smoked salmon, capers, spinach, homemade baked beans, cheese. I thought this was something different from the usual (for brunch). And I liked it for being something different!

3) 1935 toast, $8 (above) – French toast, peanut butter, banana.

4) Latte, $4.50 (above)

5) Hot chocolate, $4.50 (above) – Warm, thick and rich. I liked that I got a chocolate art too!

So yes! It was a pleasant brunching experience. The layout of the cafe allowed us to feel as though we had the entire place to ourselves since our table (which was right at the entrance) was low and our view (which was blocked by the counter) was limited to what’s happening outside. That allowed us to enjoy our food and be engrossed in our conversations. So much so that we forgot about time and I nearly missed my flight! Keke.

And it’s a pity we were too full from our mains to try their banana bread with espresso butter which many had raved about. Not sure why I did not think of taking it away. Hmm…
