Brunch @ Yahava KoffeeWorks
July 31, 2014 in European (cafe)
In (great) need for coffee, I decided to drop by Yahava since it’s the closest coffee place up North of Singapore. Although it’s still a 15 to 20 minutes drive from where I work. o_O
Located somewhat behind Sembawang Hills Food Centre, Yahava is what I call an unpretentious place to enjoy good coffee. They don’t really do food. Pastries are outsourced while for savoury, Yahava only offers sandwiches (3 flavours) and lasagna (2 flavours).
And from the menu, we ordered:-
1) Molten lava cake & ice cream, $10 (above) – There’re 2 flavours to choose from. White chocolate or peanut butter. We went with the latter. Instead of seeing chocolate / peanut butter oozing out when we sliced through, the cake was really moist in the centre. I like that the cake was more chocolatey with a faint hint of peanut butter.
2) Banana bread, $4 (above) – I was surprised that this was toasted warm before served. A very nice touch.
3) Café latte, $5 (regular) (above) – There are 3 sizes to opt for. Regular, large and XL.
So while Yahava does not aim at being a café, I will certainly recommend dropping by for a cup of coffee if one is in the area. Say, after having lunch at Sembawang Hills Food Centre? Or drop by to have coffee over a good read! (Bring your own book!)
I like the spacious place and how friendly the staff were. And I read from their website that they do coffee tasting from 9am to 4pm. Will probably drop by another time for that. =)
