Brunch @ fArt tArtz

October 20, 2014 in European (cafe) by thywhaleliciousfay

Isn’t it odd how impromptu outings work out better than planned outings? An out-of-the-blue text was sent in our group chat to meet for tea (break). And surprisingly, we all wanted. And most importantly, (we) could! And 4 hours later, we were at Singapore Expo!

The cafe occupies a kiosk instead of a shop unit. Located opposite The Coffee Bean, Fart Tartz is an open concept cafe in the sense that it’s not enclosed.

Located within Foyer 1 which is between Halls 2 and 3, one should park at carpark E if coming by car. If one is coming by train, one will need to walk from Hall 6 to Foyer 1.

Unfortunately, there were no tarts / pies left. I wanted to order one cause I imagined tarts would be their signature since they’re called Fart Tartz. Hmm…

And from the menu (pages 1, 2, 3, 4) and display shelf, we ordered:-

1) Chunky chicken grilled sandwiches, $7.90 (above) – We purposely chose this over fishy tuna ($7.90), atlantic seafood ($8.90) and creamy egg ($6.90) as we did not want mayo-fish or mayo-egg, but ended up having mayo-chicken. And I will say this actually reminded me of the (older) days when I attempt to make sandwiches with crunchy lettuce. Not too bad. And I liked that the bread was toasted nicely from the crispy sound it made when I further sliced the sandwich (for sharing among us).

2) Chilled prawn angel’s hair, $11.90 (above) – My girlfriends really liked this, but I did not. I thought the sauce tasted a little off. More seaweed should be given as I felt the pasta taste better with the seaweed. Or maybe my girlfriends ate most of the seaweed and left me with none since I was the last to try this. Keke.

3) Oreo nutella “mud” tart, $5.50 (above) – A little too creamy for my liking. And one will need skill to eat this. Scoop inwards to prevent the ‘soil’ from spilling over. I read there’s even a ‘large’ mud tart where the pot is almost the size of a pail which makes a unique idea for birthday cakes.

4) Lychee-misu, $6.80 (above) – One of the flavours offered for their flavoured tira-misu (in jars), this was good. I liked its light and refreshing taste.

5) Cafe latte, $5.50 (above)

6) Minty citrus, $3.80 (above)

7) Passionfruit soda, $4.50 (above)

We liked Fart Tartz for its quiet and relaxed environment which allowed us to enjoy our time. We managed to get the sofa seats which gave us the luxury of space and comfort. But of course, it being located at Singapore Expo, it’s a little inaccessible but people who are non-Easters like myself.

I will say drop by if one happens to be checking out the exhibitions or sale events at Singapore Expo.

But on a totally random note, we did not really like that wooden spoons were given for us to eat our desserts. That feeling of the spoon ‘sticking’ to our tongues as we lick our spoons…
