Brunch @ Flock Cafe
October 14, 2014 in European (cafe) by thywhaleliciousfay
Having been to Flock once, I decided a second visit is required to try their bakes (so as to give a more well-rounded review. Keke). My first visit was on a weekday afternoon while my second was on a weekend late afternoon.
It can be a little tricky to find Flock. The only tell-tale sign was the signboard stand placed outside their cafe. Parking shouldn’t be much of a problem as we managed to find one easily at the car park behind the residential flat (Enter the car park through the road that’s just beside Flock).
Flock eludes a chill, laid-back vibe with their minimalist industrial decor. I preferred sitting outside. Tables near the glass entrance, not the tables placed along pave way.
And from the menu (which was a board installed above the counter), we ordered:-
1) Cheeky eggs, $16.90 (above) – 2 poached eggs, braised pork cheek, rocket, hollandaise sauce & english muffin.
2) Banana french toast & crispy bacon, $13.90 (above) – Besides the fact that they should have used fresh strawberries instead of canned ones, this was not too bad.
3) Mushroom quiche, $6.50 (above) – I liked the buttery crust.
4) Carrot cake, $6.50 (above) – Sold out on my first visit, I was bent on trying this during my second visit. However, this was disappointing.
5) Orange bundt cake, $6 (above) – Stated as Flock’s signature cake on their website, this was a little on the dry side. Did not really like it.
6) Latte, $5.50 (above)
Being located in Tiong Bahru with many cafés to choose from, I guess one is better off checking out the rest. While the mains were okie, it did not impress. And Flock closes pretty early at 6pm. I guess the only plus is that they are open on Mondays.
