Sarnies has been around since 2011, but it has somehow slipped under my radar. It was by sheer chance that my family and I were at Thian Hock Keng temple when we decided to grab a quick coffee after praying. And that’s how I chanced upon Sarnies. After that trip, I was curious about their food. Thus, a second visit on a Saturday!

A little research before my actual visit showed that Sarnies have 3 menus. Weekday menu, weekend menu and dinner menu. I was actually looking forward to trying their salad which is all over Instagram but that’s only offered on weekdays.

And from the menu, we ordered:-

1) Apple turnover, $5.50 (above)

2) A fry up, $24.50 (above) – With eggs, mushrooms, baked beans, home cured bacon and a real sausage. The portion was huge! But I guess one can say it’s not a generous portion as we were paying $24.50 for it. I like the extra touch to the bakes beans which is a mixture of bakes beans, cherry tomato and onion. And the cured bacon? OMG. It’s really very cured. It’s really salty. Like salted egg.

3) Pancakes with berries, honey and greek yogurt, $20 (above) – Its texture is neither dry nor sticky-such-that-it-sticks-to-the-top-of-your-mouth (which is actually how I like my pancakes to be). And I must say the pancakes were really think. Each layer was almost 1.5cm? So 2 layers will mean it’s 3cm! So while eating the pancakes, it did feel like a cross between pancake and cake.

4) Latte, $5 (above)

Sarnies is the place to go to for good coffee and comfort food in Telok Ayer. The cafe is really popular with the gym goers in the area, so it can be a little difficult getting a table within the air-conditioned cafe. But they have many tables, alfresco. So yes, I am definitely making another trip to Sarnies to try their dinner menu!
